For many, childbirth is a moment of joy and relief. But for millions of women around the world each year, that moment can turn into a race against time. Postpartum hemorrhage affects approximately 14 million women annually. In the United States, it accounts for 11.2% of maternal deaths. And, despite decades of medical progress, the U.S. has seen little change in hemorrhage-related maternal mortality for more than forty years. That stark reality is what drove HemoSonics to act. In 2025, the company partnered with D2 Creative to announce a new indication for its Quantra® Hemostasis System, making it the first and only FDA-cleared viscoelastic testing device for peripartum obstetric procedures, including postpartum hemorrhage. HemoSonics and D2 Creative approached this campaign with the urgency the issue deserves. The visuals were intentionally bold and unflinching, designed to confront the intense realities of postpartum hemorrhage. The focus remains on the mother, the newborn, and the hands of the clinicians who hold their fate in those critical minutes. A black-and-white treatment strips away the softness of traditional newborn photography, replacing sentimentality with clinical seriousness. It’s a visual reminder that postpartum hemorrhage is in fact a crisis that can happen in any delivery room. But, with real-time hemostasis data available in minutes at the bedside, clinicians can intervene faster and make more data-informed care decisions. This campaign reflects HemoSonics’ commitment to changing the maternal mortality story in the U.S. by making real-time coagulation data part of standard obstetric care. Because a mother’s tomorrow can’t be lost today.
