About The Entry
In creating a social launch campaign for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, PLAION and Warhorse Studios set us a challenge: take this incredible cult hit mainstream. This meant engaging two very different groups at once. Long-time fans expected bulletproof historical accuracy. Newcomers needed a reason to care about a medieval RPG with no magic, dragons or fantasy tropes. To win both, we couldn’t rely on gameplay, we had to make the 15th century feel alive. We anchored our campaign around a simple invitation: Live a life medieval. By engaging social-native audiences with entertaining, shareable content using the language and rhythms of internet culture, it reframed the game’s deep medieval immersion as relatable and fun, transforming it from a niche RPG into a game for all. Surfacing the game’s pillars with sharp humour, a confident tone and unapologetically nerdy detail, each piece of content was crafted to satisfy the purists and convert the curious. The result? 30 million views across their brand social channels. 1 million copies sold on day one. A sustained wave of social buzz, designed to engage new and existing audiences, that helped drive sales five times higher than the original’s first month.
