Mutopia: Visualizing the Unseen

Today, the boundaries between technology and humans are blurring. Technology is becoming a part of ourselves as an extension of the human body. There is no doubt that technology amplifies our abilities, but at the same time, we are also adapting to the logic and rules embedded in these tools and technologies. Through the lens of speculative design and posthumanism, this project critiques the traditional humanistic sense of the "human" and its instrumentalized view of the "nonhuman," and speculates on our possible relationship with artificial intelligence and its impact on creativity.

Mutopia stands for mutant + topia. It is an immersive experience that allows viewers to walk through an imaginary world populated by interspecies hybrids created with machine learning, using over 5000 images. Drawing from machine learning image data, the pattern was created by the code. By layering different elements and using various methods, this approach inspires viewers to consider possibilities beyond our traditional creative methods and the potential of human-machine collaboration.
