Circlage Surgical Evaluation Platform

Circlage is a platform that uses AI to evaluate surgical procedures. Originating as a project under the Hexcite program for pre-accelerator healthcare start-ups, Circlage connected with Standard Beagle Studio to create the platform’s UI and build a technical prototype.

Circlage creates a central platform to collect and annotate videos, and can be evaluated both by mentors and by an AI designed to scan the workflow and give feedback on vital steps in the surgery. And this feedback is both objective and detailed.

Medical residents can upload their surgery footage to the Circlage platform. Once uploaded, they can begin to make a case. Users can add notes either in general, or correlating to specific points in the video footage with the timestamp feature. They can also add a voice recording to save time and effort on typing extensive notes.

After creating their case, users send it for analysis by the AI for scoring. Users receive a report that breaks down their performance step by step, with a rating, the number of errors, and the option to view their step by step score in detail.

One of the goals of the platform is not only to have their work evaluated -- but also see the outcomes it creates. Ultimately, the platform is designed to improve surgical outcomes, which ultimately will help patients. And when this prototype launches, it will be part of a medical research study inside Johns Hopkins to evaluate surgical outcomes.
