"American Descendant of Slavery, The Album" is the debut music album of Singer-Songwriter Terry Blade. It focuses on the intersectionality of Terry's social and cultural identity as an openly queer, Black-American millennial, who is a descendant of American chattel slavery. The project incorporates original music with historic audio recordings of freed Black Americans (and their descendants) curated by the American Folklife Center of the U.S. Library of Congress. Terry drew inspiration from 2020 Black Lives Matter protests that occurred in the U.S.; his personal life experiences with racial and sexual identity; and Solange Knowles’ album “A Seat at the Table." The album features multiple audio and music genres: (Folk, R&B, Jazz, Retro Soul, Rap, and Spoken Word/Interviews).
